When King Camp Gillette was around 35 to 40 years old, he was working as a salesman for the Crown Cork & Seal Company. As he traveled and went about selling, King Gillette was already on the lookout for an idea of a business that he can start. Realizing how hassle it was to use razors during that period, King Gillette decided to pursue the invention of a new and improved razor. He wanted to develop a razor that didn't need to be sharpened. He wanted it to be disposable. He wanted the razor to be sharp at first, used until it was dull, and discarded right after. The process of creating this type of razor was an uphill battle considering that this has never been done before. King Gillette persisted for several years. He faced tremendous challenges but eventually, he succeeded. In 2005, Gillette was acquired by Proctor and Gamble (P&G) for over $57 billion. This is the inspiring story of King Gillette's quest to build the next generation of razors.
