Latour explains the basic features of Actor Network Theory. It was developed by a group of STS scholars in the late 1980s, including Michel Callon, John Law, Annemarie Mol and Latour himself. The key idea is that local assemblies of heterogenous "actors" (humans, machines, signs, organic material, etc.) are responsible for developments in science and technology.
