Planting out those carefully grown seedlings or young plants is a big moment. It's the culmination of those months of hard work nurturing and growing and protecting your seedlings. But planting them out too early could kill them. So it's important to take the time to get them used to the new outdoor environment. 'Hardening off' is when we slowly get indoor-sown or greenhouse-sown young plants accustomed to the outdoors.
