This is the former Fair Oaks Mall in Columbus, Indiana. Now in the middle of redeveloping into the NexusPark. Built in 1990. Fair Oaks Mall was the 2nd mall built in Columbus Indiana. The other being Commons Mall built in the early 70's in the downtown area, which was mostly demolished in 2008. Fair Oaks Mall had anchor store history of JC Penneys, Carsons, even a Kmart which was replaced with the current Dunham's Sports. Arriving before I was expecting there to not be any remnants of the mall left, as an on-going project called NexusPark is taking it's place. A massive health and recreation center. With even a fieldhouse. To my surprise I come to find that the majority of the mall corridors are still intact. With most the construction currently taking place towards the former Carson's. To my knowledge most the businesses that still exist may carry over when the project is complete. At least the food court area for certain. As there were signs of new restaurants coming soon in 2024.
