Consiglio: per scegliere l’articolo corretto controllate sempre se il sostantivo è maschile, femminile, singolare o plurale e poi con quali lettere inizia! Potete usare i nostri video anche per imparare nuove parole. Scrivete le parole che incontrate di volta in volta e il vostro lessico diventerà sempre più ricco! The singular definite articles are: il, lo, l’, la. - “il” is followed by a masculine singular noun (e.g. il gatto = the cat, il tavolo = the table) - “lo” is followed by masculine singular nouns starting with: “s+ consonant”, “z-”, “ps-”, “y-”, “gn-” (e.g. lo studente = the student, lo zaino = the rucksack, lo psicologo = the psychologist, lo gnomo = the gnome) - “l’” is followed by singular masculine and feminine nouns starting with a vowel - a, e, i, o, u - (e.g. l’amico = the friend, l’elefante = the elephant, l’insalata = the salad) - “la” is followed by singular feminine nouns starting with a consonant (e.g. la mela - the apple, la nave - the ship). Top tip: in order to choose the correct definite articles, check if the following noun is masculine, feminine, singular or plural and then which letters it starts with. You can also use our videos to learn new vocabulary. Write down the words as you see them to build your vocabulary. Ciao!
