Today, I’ll show you how to create this gorgeous and easy 2-piece baby dress, featuring a puffed-sleeve top with a bow and a sleeveless frock. Let’s dive into the step-by-step process! Materials You’ll Need: • Soft cotton fabric (white for the top, purple for the frock) • Matching thread • Buttons (4-5) • Interfacing for the collar • Fabric for the bow • Sewing machine, scissors, pins, and measuring tape Step 1: Cutting the Fabric • Top: Start with the white cotton fabric. Cut out the front and back bodice pieces and two puffed sleeves. Ensure the bodice has a round neckline. • Frock: Using purple fabric, cut a simple A-line frock body, ensuring the length is knee-length. Cut the front and back bodice with a slight V-shape and add about 1-inch seam allowance for the button placket. Step 2: Stitching the Top • Bodice: Stitch the front and back bodice together at the shoulders and sides. Leave the neckline open for later finishing. • Sleeves: Gather the top of the sleeves for the puff effect, then attach them to the armholes. Hem the sleeve edges with an elastic casing for a snug fit. • Neckline: Sew bias tape or a simple facing around the neckline to finish it. Add the bow at the neckline center for a cute touch. Step 3: Stitching the Frock • Bodice: Attach the front and back bodice pieces at the shoulders. • Skirt: For the skirt, take the long rectangle pieces of fabric and gather them at the waistline.
