Sherkan is also known as Ukhyang. Ukhyang is one of the ancient and widely celebrated festival in kinnaur. Ukhyang is celebrated in every villages of kinnaur. The way of celebration is bit different in every village . It starts from Rupi village of kinnaur. In our area it is celebrated after the ending of work season . Crop and apple season is almost over by the time Sherkan reaches to our village . This festival is celebrated for three days in our village . First day is known as Tashiloop . Day 2 is Dobor kayang . Dobor is afternoon in our dialect and kayang means traditional dance . Third and final day is known as Udaanang . Traditional folk dance is performed by the villagers and songs are sung in this ancient festival. This year Sherkan festival was historical because the deities from Urni village Sh . Badri Narayan g and Nagas g came to our village after a decade . Every 5 year our deity Sh . Chakoling Dombar visit Urni village . People from Spillow village come to our village every year to celebrate Sherkan . Traditional and ancient rituals are done in this festival and this three days Sherkan festival is one the historical festival I have ever attended. #sherkan #festivals #kinnaur
