Cyclonic Storm Dana is intensifying as it barrels toward coastal Odisha, poised to make landfall and bring heavy rains and thunderstorms to the region. The cyclone is expected to affect nearly half of Odisha's population, particularly in the southern parts of West Bengal and coastal Odisha. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi reported that only 30% of the residents in the identified 'danger zone'—around 3-4 lakh people—have been evacuated. NDRF teams in both states are on standby, and additional rescue and relief teams from the Army, Navy, and Coast Guard are on high alert. Over 200 trains have been canceled, and flights have been suspended as precautionary measures.
