In terms of similarities to regular equity options, a futures option gives you the right to buy or sell the underlying future at a set price, for a set amount of time. But that’s pretty much where the similarities end. Unlike equity options (which are standardized), futures options are not. Meaning they don’t necessarily all expire at the same time of day, and they may have different multipliers than one another.
