This is how Pakistan managed to host the SCO Summit amid strict lockdown in Islamabad

Pakistan hosted the 23rd Meeting of the Council of Heads of Govt of the SCO in Islamabad from October 15 to 16. The SCO Summit was marked by the presence of foreign diplomats in Islamabad amid the lockdown across the city. For the two-day Summit, Pakistan Govt implemented some of the strictest measures for the ‘successful’ conclusion of the Summit. The Govt announced a three-day public holiday in Islamabad, with schools, businesses shut and 10,000 security forces deployed. Meanwhile, to safeguard the event, Pak Army was deployed at the venue site, Government buildings, and the Red Zone areas. According to Reuters, the local administration sealed several shops and detained shopkeepers to enforce the blanket lockdown. Pakistan Army troops were responsible for the security of the capital's Red Zone, which is the location of the parliament and a diplomatic enclave.
