This is the game. The one that started it all. The one that every FF you love not called FF1 owes its existence to. From a relatively unknown team of young, talented individuals in 1987 came this release that would go on to change the world. Originally released on the NES, this game went on to be ported and remastered in every way imaginable, most recently becoming available as part of Square Enix's Pixel Remaster Collection. That is the one I'll be experiencing it through. A prophecy foretells of 4 warriors of light, heroes who will fight the darkness with the power of crystals. We begin our story in the town of Cornelia, where upon arrival we must prove that we are indeed the heroes of legend. In doing so, we meet Garland, the undefeated swordsman who strayed too far into the realm of darkness. We will find out what truly makes Final Fantasy what it is. What did the developers want us to experience when playing a game with this now iconic name? How will the characters, the story, the world, the gameplay, the music and the visuals be presented? And what kind of foundation did they build for what was to become a franchise of games among some of the greatest ever made? It's time to return to where it all began.
