A theater Play written and directed by Wirsiy Bernard B. The play Greener Pasture presents the terrible effects of poverty as well as Gender inequality. It is a representation of how due to poverty, nepotism and the lack of an enabling environment for self-employment, young single, as well as married ladies are in the search for a means of livelihood in which they end up being coerced by the seemingly promising promises of an agent into venturing out of their country in search for greener pastures. On the contrary, and to their dismay, they are met with horrible and inhuman experiences and those who are lucky to come back have nothing to offer but a psychologically tortured mind, pregnancy and some are infected with HIV. The play captures such ills involved in Human Trafficking expedition such as modern day slavery, rape, forced labour, job insecurity, prostitution, physical abuse, etc. Through its post-performance discussion, the play gives the audience an opportunity to share in such experiences, as well as put forth suggestions on how these hideous activities could be bridged. The last scene captioned Resolution, presents a denouncement of Human Trafficking and proposals of activities that could be put in place to guarantee an end to the above hideous and criminal practices.
