In the reigning period of first Chogyal ( King ) Phuntsok Namgyal, in the year 1642 YUKSOM was made the capital of Kingdom Of Sikkim. YUKSOM is also the place from where Dzongri Goechala Trek starts. Mt Kabru peak is visible from Yuksom in clear skies and it wonderfully reflects over the waters of Kathok lake in early morning .
