How we navigate in the wilderness and a talk about the devices we use. In over 25 years of combined hiking experience we have never been lost in the wilderness. Often we take a wrong turn here and there on the trails but with this combination of navigation devices we always manage to find our way back. GPS's are extremely useful in the modern age but it can be quite dangerous to rely on them entirely; that said it is very true that less people should be getting lost if they have a GPS ;-) In the video we also talk briefly about the importance of understanding magnetic declination, the importance of this will vary depending on your location on the planet. See the declination map at 4:44 :-) Many other Youtube channels already have videos about declination so we didn't want to turn this video into a tutorial on this.
