DUDDESTON MANOR SCHOOL NECHELLS BIRMINGHAM 1970

Highlights from the Duddeston Manor School 1970 play George Albert And The Strawks written by Drama Teacher Pete Kirby. Duddeston Manor School Gt Francis St Nechells Birmingham was opened in 1964 and was demolished in 2012, it was built to replace 3 local schools and had over 1000 pupils in attendence. Our Drama/English dept was run by a bearded bloke called Pete Kirby (such a laugh and all round great guy) Duddeston Manor School spawned several pupils who went on to perform on both stage and produce TV programmes for both ATV and the BBC and one who worked for local radio station BRMB. Perhaps the most famous of which were Musical Youth who had a No1 record called Pass The Dutchie in 1982. Kind thanks goes to Bev Brown and her husband Dave "Bunny" for lending me the 45 so that I could transfer it to a digital MP3 file and audio CD.
