At this year’s Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting (https://www.science.org/content/artic..., a Nobel laureate used his time on stage allotted to a scientific talk about structural biology to instead note his experience of discrimination as a male scientist. During the Q&A session, in response, a young woman scientist in the audience bravely calls this out, noting the systemic discrimination faced by #womeninstem. In support of this young woman scientist, I just wanted to provide a couple of concrete examples of the kind of systemic discrimination that I and many other women scientists have encountered. Some times the discrimination is so ridiculous, we just have to have a laugh about it.
