Maclaren Series KJV Large Print Verse by Verse Reference Bible

The KJV Large Print Verse-by-Verse Reference Bible, Maclaren Series, in black goatskin (ISBN 9780785241973, 8976BK). This King James Version (KJV) Bible features a two-column, verse-by-verse layout with a bold 10.5 point Comfort Print font. The line matched text minimizes show-through (ghosting). More than 72,000 page-bottom references are included, along with numerous text and translation notes. The words of Christ are printed in black ink, while chapter numbers and headings in the text are in blue. The 36 gsm paper is opaque and nearly white, and its relatively matte surface minimizes sheen. The text block is sewn, and the Bible lies open in Genesis. A line of overcast stitching is visible in Genesis chapter 5. The art-gilt page edges in my copy are nearly flawless. The flexible edge-lined goatskin cover features five raised hubs, perimeter stitching, and a calfskin liner, and the inside provides an attractive gold frame line for the text block. The three 10 mm wide, 32 cm long double-face satin ribbons come in three colors: black, red, and blue. Head and tail bands are black. Seven color maps are included, printed on heavy, glossy paper. But features one sometimes finds in KJV Bibles, such as a concordance, a Bible dictionary, and a map index are absent from this edition. The inner margin is relatively narrow. As a result, the text tends to roll off into the gutter near the center of the Bible (e.g., in Ecclesiastes or Isaiah). For those interested in such things, it should come as no surprise that the Nelson KJV text does not conform to Pure Cambridge Edition standards. This KJV Bible is printed with the dedication page to King James but without the essay from the translators to the readers. The text is not self-pronouncing.
