FILEF Liberation Day 2021

Celebrate with FILEF Italian Liberation Day 1945, the victory of the Resistance against nazi-fascism, which gave birth to the Italian Republic and to a Constitution founded on values of democracy, freedom and work. This year we also wish to acknowledge that the resistance of the First Nations in Australia started way back in 1788, when their Country was invaded by foreign forces. And the Resistance continues today, with the support of many non-Indigenous Australians. In the first part of this video Uncle Bruce Shillingsworth, Aboriginal elder and activist, outlines the current struggle of today’s First Nations peoples, and their supporters, in Australia. In the second part of the video, the Italian Partisans Association (ANPI), in Nonantola (Emilia-Romagna) will show how relevant the values of the Resistance are in today’s Italian context.
