The question of "can I have both?" is one that most couple's have to ask each other at some point in the relationship and one that singles ask themselves when thinking about the prospect of committing to someone. Managing marriage and ambition can be tricky to navigate at the best of times and we've experienced those difficulties first hand. We feel it is certainly important to have individual ambition in marriage as it can give you a great sense of fulfilment and the financial rewards can help contribute to your family. So the question isn't whether he works too much or whether she works too much, it is actually whether both people are balancing their time effectively and still able to support their partner - the work life love balance. For us, maintaining a marriage when career driven has involved a lot of brutally honest conversations that have been quite difficult but super important in establishing our priorities in different seasons of our relationship. Communicating your desires honestly is a great way how not to lose yourself in a relationship as it helps the other one understand the essence of who you are, what you're about and what's important to you.
