For how long will we try and reason God and His Word instead of opening our heart to His Spirit? When your heart is locked, sense knowledge takes over, and you cannot act with God. There is truth in God's Word but the Holy Spirit opens our heart to understand that truth (John 16:13). It is so important to understand what we read in the Word of God. Many, because of lack of understanding, can receive the answer to their prayer but not even realise it. Just as the disciples on the road to Emmaus in Luke 24, the very day of Christ's resurrection, they could not recognise that Jesus their Saviour was still with them, many of us today cannot recognise the voice of God in our situation working through the circumstances of life.
