Dartmoor - Backpacking the +450m North-West Tors | Wild Camp

The area of Dartmoor, west of the West Okement River and north of the River Tavy has many Tors above 1500 feet / 450m. It is an area I have never explored before, so the two day hike with an overnight wild camp was planned to visit these Tors and a few other Tors too. The backpacking trip started at Sourton Tors then headed down the western side of Dartmoor, passing Branscombe’s Loaf, Gren Tor, Hunt Tor before arriving at Great Links Tor. After enjoying the views it was off downhill to Little Links Tor, Arms Tor, Brat Tor with Widgery Cross, and Doe Tor for a Wild camp and a visit from the Okehampton Mountain Rescue Team. After a windy night and breakfast, I climbed up to Sharp Tor. After a quick detour to Hare Tor, I headed north to Chat Tor, the Dunna Goat (Higher and Lower), Bleak House and Green Tor. After crossing Amicombe Hill I arrived at Kitty Tor before descending to Steng-a-tor sitting high above the western ridge of the West Okement River valley.
