Marc Spector has one of the most interesting histories in the MCU. He’s one of the only main superheroes living with mental illness and his dissociative identity disorder makes him a fascinating character to watch and read about. On the surface, Marc Spector has an average superhero origin. He was close to perishing in Egypt when he stumbled upon an ancient tomb, then one thing led to another and the Egyptian God of Vengeance Khonshu chose him to be his tool to fight bad guys. But the whole mental illness aspect called into question whether Marc was truly receiving visions from a god, or if that was just another aspect of his personality manifesting itself. It makes for a fascinating main character who I’ll be discussing today! Because we might all know what Marc Spector’s superhero alter ego looks like, but we might now all know what his abilities are. Sure he wears a bright white suit in order to strike fear in his enemies and he has other personalities that manifest itself, but when Marc Spector is in full superhero mode, what exactly are his powers? Besides the standard super strength, durability and speed, he’s a master at hand-to-hand combat, he’s an expert in just about any weapon he grabs, and he shoots with pinpoint accuracy. But what about more mystical stuff? Did you know he once developed the ability to drain the life out of the people he touches? Did you know he has prophetic dreams?
