Ingredients 1 Asian pear, washed thoroughly 2 Tbsp Honey 1 tsp ginger, peeled and finely sliced into matchstick thin slices Directions 1. Cut a thin horizontal slice out of the bottom of the pear so that the pear will not roll around in the bowl during steaming. 2. Cut off the top ¼ of the pear so as to create a top “hat” for the pear. 3. Using a spoon, melon ball scooper, and/or paring knife, scoop out the center of the pear to create a small cavity in the center that will hold the ginger and honey while steaming. 4. Place the ginger and honey in the cavity of the pear. The honey should be level with the top of the cavity. 5. Cover the pear with the “hat.” 6. Place the pear into the small heat-proof bowl. 7. Fill the pot with about 3 inches of water, and place the small bowl with the pear into the steaming basket. 8. Place the steaming basket into the pot and bring the water to a boil. 9. Turn the heat down slightly to keep the water at a steady boil for 40 to 50 minutes, or until a knife can slip easily into the pear, and the pear is tender. 10. Wait for the pear to cool slightly before serving. You can scoop the contents out of the pear as you eat it, or slice the pear into bite-sized chunks, letting the juices and honey run out into the bowl and eat it like a dessert. Enjoy!
