VIdeo from the summer of 2001, right before Michael's 2nd birthday. Notice how the only word you heard him say is "no". He flips his hand infront of his face (stim), he stims off the rug, he runs in circles around the slide, he's happy & laughing, he's not always making eye contact- but sometimes he does, and I'm also making excuses for him (look- michael is waving- meanwhile he is stimming). Michael was dx about 6-8 months after this video was shot. Also- he bangs into the door and cries for about 2 seconds (hypo-sensative) and at one point he is standing on the bed looking up and not getting dizzy. UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2014: Michael spent years in autism classrooms, getting ABA, on the diet, 3 years of chelation and worked very hard at school. He's now in a regular highschool, getting special ed support, but on grade level. He's an honor student, plays the violin, involved in student gov't, a junior firefighter, has a girlfriend, etc. He's planning on going to college in 3 years, major in science & become a teacher. Thanks everyone for your questions & feedback. 2016 update: Michael is going into his senior year of high school. He scored 1110 on his SAT's and has a 90 average. He's the manager of the varsity football and baseball teams. 2018 update: Michael is now a freshman at a University studying Weather Science. (yay)
