Learning: A deeper look at AI in education

In April 2023, ARACY and UNICEF Australia released The Wellbeing of Australia's Children, an index showing what life is like for children and young people in Australia. To explore further how we can make Australia the best place to grow up, ARACY and UNICEF Australia are examining each of The Nest's wellbeing domains as presented in the index, as we prepare to launch the second paper in the series "Empowering Young Minds: A review of Australian children and young people's learning and education", this webinar will take a closer look into the spotlight topic The Digital Divide and Generative AI and Learning. -- Today’s children are the first generation that will never know a world without smartphones. Their lives will be enmeshed with digital technologies in a way that no other generation before them has experienced, and AI will increasingly permeate through this digital world. The opportunities presented by AI are exciting and almost unlimited, with the potential to enhance learning opportunities and educational outcomes, however, we also need to consider the risks that it can pose to children’s safety and mental health as well as the implications for their privacy and security.   We are excited to have Dr. Kelly Stephens, Director of Edtech and Education Policy at UTS Centre for Social Justice and Inclusion, join us for this webinar to share the work they are doing in this space. Joining Dr Stephens will be two UNICEF Australia Youth Ambassadors who will provide their perspectives on the digital divide faced by young Australians and the role that AI can play in learning.
