2023 Cadillac Lyriq vs 2022 Audi e-tron Comparison. Cadillac's first entrant into the luxury electric vehicle market will be the Lyriq SUV, which offers sharp styling and a modern cabin. Cadillac says that both single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive models will be offered, and that its new SUV will have a driving range of more than 300 miles. The Lyriq has been designed from the ground up and will ride on General Motors' new scalable battery architecture; the company claims a low center of gravity and a spacious cabin as benefits of the dedicated EV-architecture. The Lyriq should be on sale sometime in early 2022 as a 2023 model. What's New for 2023? Not only is Lyriq a brand-new nameplate for the American luxury brand, it's also Cadillac's first all-electric offering. When it goes on sale, it'll go head to head with heavy hitters such as the Audi e-tron, Jaguar I-Pace, and Tesla Model X. The 2022 Audi e-tron has a sci-fi-sounding name that teases its all-electric nature, but otherwise it looks like and acts much like a traditional mid-size luxury SUV. Its coupelike counterpart­­, the e-tron Sportback, has a more interesting appearance but still doesn't command nearly as much attention as the gull-winged Tesla Model X or the jazzy Jaguar I-Pace. While Audi skips the typical EV styling that appeals to the tech crowd, both e-trons boast a sophisticated and tranquil interior, with the fastback Sportback sacrificing some practicality for fashion's sake. A pair of potent electric motors provide all-wheel drive and near-instant acceleration, but both versions are better at cruising than cornering. The 2022 e-tron and e-tron Sportback have short range estimates (218 and 222 miles, respectively), but they offset that with notable fast-charging times, provided a capable charging station is nearby. What's New for 2022? The changes to the 2022 e-tron SUV and e-tron Sportback are primarily revised option packages. These include newly available orange brake calipers and new 21-inch wheel designs. The regular e-tron no longer tops out with the Prestige trim as it is replaced with what Audi calls the Chronos Edition. This top-spec model includes LED matrix headlights, the Black Optic package, and S-line exterior bits highlighted in Chronos Gray paint and sporting orange brake calipers inside black 21-inch wheels. Inside, there's a black headliner, gray ash wood interior accents, and rear-seat side airbags. The e-tron Sportback in Premium guise adds a Convenience Plus package with a 360-degree camera system, the Black Optic package and black 21-inch rims with orange brake calipers, and a suite of driver assists. Finally, the fastback e-tron paired with the Prestige trim can now be fitted with 22-inch rollers and orange brake calipers as part of the Black Optic package.
