If you’ve watched Disney’s newest film - Raya and the Last Dragon - you know just how epic Disney’s first Southeast Asian Princess is. However, we want to know how Raya’s story came to be. The new film follows Raya, voiced by Kelly Marie Tran, who is the princess of the fictional realm Kumandra’s Kingdom of Heart. However, she’s also a warrior Princess with a new mission to find the last dragon in order to restore unity to the Kingdoms. The dragon is her only hope to saving her people from a plague. She’s also being challenged by antagonist Namaari. She manages to band together with a group of misfits, including Awkwafina’s Sisu, to increase her chances of succeeding. Raya is a character like nothing Disney viewers have ever seen before and we were curious what inspiration led to this new iconic character and her sidekicks. In this video, we’re going to delve into how the movie was made. From the creators and actors’ inspiration to the amazing lengths the cast and crew went through to get this movie finished in the midst of a pandemic. They took working from home to a whole new level.
