"Why IS MY FAMILY SO POSITIVE?"| Toxic Positivity | Psychotherapy Crash Course

#trauma #FAMILY #tamarahilllpc Family is a wonderful thing when it is healthy. But in some families the interactions between family members can be unhealthy. Toxic positivity is a poison. It's worse when it is within your very own family. It minimizes the reality of your situation and may even impact your family in negative ways. Toxic positivity can also undermine the authenticity that you seek within your family. It's one thing to be positive about life at certain junctures -- and uplift yourself and those who need to experience the hope and positivity of life. HOWEVER, it's when that toxic positivity ignores, minimizes, harms, disregards, and ignores the truth of life that it becomes a problem. Positivity is NEVER toxic when it is genuine and considers the thoughts and feelings of others. In this video, I discuss the clinical features of toxic positivity which can sometimes be better known as narcissism. ------------------------------------------ *DISCLAIMER: THIS VIDEO IS NOT INTENDED TO OFFEND THOSE WHO ARE NATURALLY POSITIVE OR TENDS TO "LOOK ON THE BRIGHTSIDE."
