I recently read (and really enjoyed) L. Ron Hubbard's 1982 science fiction novel Battlefield Earth: A Saga of the Year 3000. I also recently learned there was a terrible, terrible movie adaptation made of the novel in 2000. This thing ought not to have been done - not like this, anyway.
