DJ Dexter Rico was a well known UK Garage producer who regularly collaborated with the infamous Dubaholics, jointly releasing tracks together on Old London Records, between the years 1999 to 2002. His name was sometimes spelt Dexta Ricco instead of Dexter Rico, as seen on some flyers and the records he produced. They had a star-studded line up of DJs, MCs and producers of the 4x4 and 2 Step UK Garage era. They jointly hosted some of the most successful Garage rave and club nights in conjunction with the likes of McMahon Promotions, they helped promote nights like, 'Club Exposure' (Gass Club, in Leicester Sq and Club Colosseum, in Vauxhall), 'Escape' (Glass House, in Black Friars and Scala, in King Cross), and 'Memories' @Gass Club, Liberty & Ice FM 88.4 Midsummer Ball 1999 @Club Colosseum, 'Future Funk' @Discotheque Royale (Uxbridge). The station was run by Ricky D and showcased the best and most established artists and up and coming talent of that time. With the likes of: DJ Bigatron, DJ Chunky (Sunship), DJ Charlie Brown, DJ Freefall, DJ Double O, DJ Dexter Rico (Old London Records), DJ Ecko, DJ Martin Larner (Liberty), DJ Spin.E.B (of Garage Nation and now on Flex FM), DJ Dodger & DJ Dempsey, (Face The Music Records), DJ Kalibre, DJ Teebone (Fly Bi / Solid City Records), DJ Scot D, DJ Dom Da Bomb (Club Exposure), DJ Lewi (Quench Records), DJ Professor T, DJ Virus, DJ Millsey, DJ Ross Young, DJ Ed Hunter, DJ Funkie C, DJ Das & DJ Vek, MC Sharky P (Do You Really Like it - Masters of Ceremonies), Mr Reds (G-Men), DJ Rio, MC Ragga D, MC Ricky D, Too Kold Krew (MC Bigga, MC Danger 18K, & MC Ruby), MC Teller, MC Skippy, MC Spie, MC Gold, MC Ryder, MC Mampy, and many other well known names in the scene. The year 1998, was a pivotal year for UK Garage. It was growing mass appeal, it was no longer a small scene or second fiddle to Jungle raves. It was now taking the London and the UK by storm. Colour Girl. Out to all the London FM pirates of the past. Although they aren’t about now their contribution to the British music industry and to the London music scene has been immense.
