Wyoming & Montana’s insane fall color transformation

Vlog 65 Location: Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota Tags: #wyoming #montana #northdakota #grandteton #harvesthost #fortunion #fall #fallroadtrip After getting back from Alaska, we found ourselves with a little extra time off so we set out for a fall color change road trip up to North Dakota. We set out and drove from Southern California to a rest stop in Utah and then continued on our way into Wyoming, where we marveled at the color change in the trees. We spent the night at a national forest campsite just outside of Grand Teton National Park (NP). We had a lovely night at the campsite and then got up and out to enjoy some scenic driving of the park, including stopping so Chris could get his NP passport book stamped. We continued up into the northern part of Wyoming and found another amazing national forest campground, Sitting Bull. We had a nice cold night and brisk fall morning at the site, where we looked for moose but we unsuccessful. So we hit the road again, stopping at a few sites, including a ranch where Chris’ mom worked at as a young adult. We were able to find a cool harvest host site for the night….a winery in Montana! We did not know that they could grow grapes up in Montana due to their weather, but we enjoyed a lovely wine tasting and learned all about the hearty, hybrid grapes grown in Montana that could withstand the harsh climate. We really ha d lovely time at the Tongue River Winery and paired our new bottle of red wine with some pasta for dinner. The next morning, we enjoyed a big breakfast at the harvest host before setting off to North Dakota. Our main stop was for Teddy Roosevelt NP, but first we had to stop and check out Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site. We hope you enjoy the views and some of the history of the site. Stay tuned for the next video which features Roosevelt NP, you won’t want to miss it! Unfortunately, we both have full time jobs working in healthcare which require us to have a home base, instead of the digital nomad life that we envy. However, this lifestyle has allowed us to learn the ins and outs of planning #vacations. When we first met, we were very young and enjoyed some domestic travel. When we got married, we decided to go onto our first #international trip together. Let’s just say, Tracy caught a bad case of the travel bug. So it was our mission to go everywhere! We try to plan 3-4 “big” trips a year. In total, we have been to 64 countries together (Chris is at 75 total himself). The biggest thing that we have taken away from this is how to be savvy while traveling. At first, we took a lot of cruises because they were easy. However, we met some new friends on a cruise who told us to come visit them in Malaysia and that was our first trip that we planned all on our own. Let’s say it was a great trip but we made a few mistakes, like severely overpaying for our taxi in Bali. However, we have used everything as a learning experience. We really love the logistics of planning trips and getting the best deals and experiences. And it would be selfish to keep this knowledge to ourselves! We have lots of friends and family come to us for advice or helping planning. So why not expand our audience and help everyone out! Our motto in life is champagne taste on a beer budget, or more correctly, a 5 star hotel taste for a hostel price.
