(OUTDATED) [TAS] Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour Ring Attack (1P)

This is a tool-assisted speedrun (TAS). This time will not count on any real leaderboards. Rerecord count: 4761 Timing starts from boot-up and ends on the last A press which will prompt that Shadow Mario has been unlocked. The goal of this category is to have your golf ball pass through all rings and hole out with a score of Par or better. Doing so for all 6 holes on all 6 courses will unlock Shadow Mario. The RTA time being 26 seconds slower than frame count suggests is mostly due to emulation lag between holes loading, and some massive framerate drops on certain holes. Most noticeably PCG 16. Hope you enjoy my first ever TAS movie! :) 🦊 Inspired by Bluekandy's recent Any% TAS (I hope it's at least half decent for your standards Wowee) Link to his TAS video:    • [TAS] Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour Any%...   Had lots of fun learning how to use TAS Input/Frame Advance, and trying to figure out the best possible routes for each hole. Probably a couple little oversights in this that I could save seconds from. Lakitu Valley could easily be improved by more ambitious camera manipulation, and most holes where I dunk can save a lot of frames based on better club selection and how long the ball rolls around in the hole. In some situations the difference between a good dunk clip and a bad dunk clip can be over 70 frames. So pushing a low 14 TAS time isn't unreasonable There is also a shadow of a chance that going for an albatross shot on Shifting Sands 18 is possible. It would require +1 RNG on the teeshot, and a higher trajectory such that the first bounce will hit semi-rough or fairway and bounce much farther to the left. At worst I only lost about 2 seconds not going for this albie though since the 1st shot would've taken much longer to bounce into position instead of a quick roll out of the rough. I chose Bowser for this TAS because he is the strongest character in the game from no save file and also has one of the fastest swing animations, including putts (which is rarely used) Bowser has a lot more opportunities to save strokes and manage shots than basically every other character. Which include: Potentially 1 stroke on Sands 9, most other characters aren't strong enough to hit the fairway on the other side of the pyramid. 1 stroke (possibly 2) on Sands 18 by abusing his huge draw to clear the 1st ring on teeshot. Faster routing on Blooper 4 by clearing the rock on teeshot. Potentially 1 stroke on Blooper 8, some mid-tier characters like Birdo may be able to carry the green here but would certainly have trouble holing out. Faster routing on PCG 2 by using his huge draw to better position 2nd shot Faster routing on PCG 8 1 stroke on PCG 16 by precisely bouncing off the mushroom to get both rings on teeshot. 1 stroke on PCG 18 by clearing the green pipe on teeshot. Faster routing on Badlands 12 1 stroke on Badlands 15 by clearing the bridge to uncover ring on teeshot. Bottom Text #TAS
