Baby gorilla VENUS from London Zoo BITES her mum!! 😱🫣🫢😋😍

Baby gorilla from London Zoo Venus and mum Effie were waiting to go to the private quarters for nap time. Obviously, Venus wasn't tired, and as no other members of the troop were around, she was darting from one place to the other, climbing and getting down repeatedly. She also spent some quality time with mum Effie, which is shown on the longer video I will upload soon. Filmed 2nd September 2024. Gorilla Kingsom at London Zoo. Baby Gorilla Venus was born in February 2024 to Mum Effie and dad Kiburi. She is strong and confident despite having to go through a hair-raising afternoon with her older half-sister Alika. Effie allowed Alika to hold her baby, which is common in troops as a way for those who are reaching adulthood to learn how to look after babies. It is unknown if Alika had held the baby before, but she was very excited and definitely didn't want to give Venus back to Mum too soon. She was also quite rough with Venus when watching the footage and observing from a human point of view. This has been debated (on youtube) since the incident between those that believe the zoo staff should have intervened and those that believe the zoo to be experts and in that, try to understand the actions of the whole troop and those that look after them. The incident happened on the 2nd August 2024 and involved gorilla baby Venus and a big half-sister, ten year old Alika. No matter how anyone feels about what happened, I have been visiting the zoo weekly since then, and Venus, although it is obviously wary of Alika. She appears unharmed and just as inquisitive as ever. I get more chances to film Effie and Venus than I do Mjukuu and Juno, her baby girl that was born in January 2024. She tends to sit in places I find hard to film and appears to spend more time in her private quarters. She is also dominant, so she does not have to wait in order to be fed or to go to siesta. She will move away from where the rest of the troop is waiting, and I have to make a decision on which mum and baby to film, I usually choose Effie and Venus. My lack of videos of Mjukuu and Juno are purely for those reasons. Please know I have no affiliation with London Zoo or any other. I have paid for my membership at London Zoo. I don't personally know anyone who works there. Although I spoke to the Curator of Animals at the zoo, I do not know them and have not spoken to them since. I also have no training in primates or primate care. I am not an expert. Therefore, my comments are my opinion, nothing more. I do get upset when I feel other peoples comments could be interpreted as someone saying I am lying or trying to cover up atrocities such as abuse of the troop, the babies not being fed or just general mismanagement of the I. babies in the troop. These are my feelings and beliefs based on respect for the people who care for any wild animals kept in captivity for the safety of the species, education, and conservation purposes. If anyone causes or hints that my involvement with the troop is based on more, please know it is not true. I hope you enjoy my videos and if there is anything you would like me to do to improve or branch out from what I currently cover then please contact me or comment on a video.
