Recently, the highly debated and contentious Personal Data Protection Bill was withdrawn as the Joint Committee of Parliament (JCP) proposed a large number of amendments to the bill. This decision has been taken after nearly four years of the Bill being in the works. The Government said that a revised bill with a comprehensive legal framework could be tabled in the winter session of the Parliament.
