In this second episode, Razeem simulates a network interface failure by removing an optical fiber cable from a HP Integrity RX2800 i2 server and shows how this failure is detected by the Hardware Sentry KM in BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management (BPPM). He first checks the values of the various parameters. Then he removes the optical fiber cable from the FC port 0 and an alert is triggered straight away with the link status parameter changing from Plugged to Unplugged. The annotation which appeared in the associated graph indicates the point of failure and provides further details.
