Derry/Londonderry's New Railway Station

On the 21st October 2019 I paid a visit to the new railway station in Derry/Londonderry on it's first day of operation. This station replaces the 1980's station which closed on the 8th October. Since this video was filmed the old station has been demolished. This new station is located on the site and uses the beautiful buildings of the original BNCR / NCC station which opened in 1874 and lasted until 1980 and then reopened in 2019 as the station we see now and it is fantastic to see this beautiful building back in railway use. I must say I am very impressed with this new North West Transport Hub station here in Derry/Londonderry it has a very specious concourse with a nice café and shop + all other facilities you would expect to find in a railway station as well as that the station has nice long platforms with a great view of the River Foyle and the city itself as well as that the station has a stabling siding. At the time of filming there was still some work on a few final touches to be carried out to the station mainly on the platforms but overall it is a very nice station. Work is now underway to build bus stands at the site and once that is completed this station will become a fully functional bus & rail hub. Derry/Londonderry is served by a hourly service Monday to Saturday & a two hourly service on Sundays During the video we see units 3004, 3022 & 4019 working services to and from Belfast. We also see 4005 on crew training duties. It is hoped that the Belmond Grand Hibernian Train may possibly start running to Derry/Londonderry from 2021at this moment in time I am waiting to hear more information about this.
