Beyond the Surface: Using cutting-edge technology for marine exploration Presented by: Jody Oliver AGRP Lab Technician & PhD Candidate, NRF-SAIAB South Africa, renowned for its vibrant biodiversity, faces an urgent need for enhanced marine biomonitoring. Using cutting-edge techniques, such as environmental DNA (eDNA) analysis from seawater and natural eDNA samplers such as marine sponges, presents a promising solution. As part of a multi-disciplinary Deep Connections project, Jody showcases some of the interesting work conducted in the waters of the iSimangaliso Marine Protected Area and World Heritage Site.
