My Coast to Coast Walk 2023 - Day 5 : Patterdale to Shap

13th May 2023. Two long climbs to get up to Kidsty Pike but I found them much easier than some of the climbs I've encountered over the last few days as it was solid ground underfoot with little in the way of slippery rocks or loose scree. I passed through thick cloud on the way up, though this cleared as I reached higher ground. Angle Tarn is absolutely beautiful though this was covered in cloud as I approached, but I stayed here a while and it eventually cleared, giving great views. Sat for a while on Kidsty Pike enjoying the scenery, and having a chat with Bruce, who I'd met on day 1, then I descended via High Raise and Low Raise. Very easy walking taking this route to Haweswater following a soft grassy track. Again beautiful scenery as I dropped down to Haweswater. The landscape changed as I followed grass fields to reach firstly Shap Abbey and then Shap. Beautiful day weather-wise, very hot and sunny. Really loved and enjoyed walking this section. 15.59 miles.
