How to Clean a Pool Filter Cartridge | Leslie's

Cleaning your filter cartridge is an important step in keeping your filter and pool clean and healthy! A dirty or damaged filter cartridge prevents your pool filter from effectively trapping debris. Thankfully, cleaning your filter cartridge is a piece of cake! Dirty, cloudy water is often a sign that your filter cartridge needs to be cleaned. But the most guaranteed way to know if your cartridge is dirty is to look at the filter pressure gauge. If the pressure gauge is 8–10 psi higher than the normal operating level, it's time to clean the cartridge. To clean your filter cartridge, follow these simple steps: 1️⃣ Spray it gently with a garden hose to rinse off the dirt and debris. Never use a pressure washer when cleaning your cartridge. Too much pressure will destroy the pleats on the cartridge! 2️⃣ If you're using a spray cleaner, simply spray the product all over the cartridge. Let the cleaner soak into the cartridge for 15–20 minutes, then rinse. 3️⃣ If you're using a soaking solution, fill a large bucket with the required amount of cleaning solution, then place the cartridge in the bucket.
