Colorful Houses by the Hill! | Colors of Stobosa Baguio

BEAUTIFUL STOBOSA! The Colors of StoBoSa, officially designated as the StoBoSa Hillside Homes Artwork, is a community artwork designed by the Tam-awan Village group, and is a locally recognized tourist attraction in the town of La Trinidad, Benguet. The paintwork of multiple houses composes the single artwork. The artwork in 2017. Once considered an eyesore along the La Trinidad highway in Benguet, Stobosa Hillside Homes Artwork is now a tourist attraction that draws crowds of onlookers wanting to capture a unique Instagram-worthy image to show off to their friends and family. This project was inspired by the Favela Paint Project in Brazil, where Sao Paolo and Rio de Janerio shanties were transformed from an unappealing sprawl of makeshift houses into fabulous murals, with beauty and chaos meeting in one setting. All this was done with an application of a fresh coat of paint, creating a stunning visual masterpiece, truly a work of art. The Gamechoen Culture Village in Busan, South Korea is said to be another inspiration for this colorful project. The name StoBoSa is a portmanteau of the three sitios that took part in the project along Barangay Balili in La Trinidad: Stone Hill, Botiwtiw, and Sadjap. The project required 1,000 primer paints and about 1,800 gallons of colored paint to fully cover the hillside homes of Stobosa. An estimated 520 residents, artists, and individual volunteers all lent a helping hand to make the creative vision a reality. Best time to visit Since this spot is an outdoor attraction, it’s best to see it when it’s not raining, so plan your trip so that it falls in the dry months of November to May. You can still visit during wet months, but make sure to keep updated with the weather forecast as the vibrant colors pop out more when it’s not too cloudy or not raining. Note that this spot is located along the highway, and there are no parking spots nearby, so if you want to take your time photographing the houses, you might have to take public transportation.
