Skill, Mastery, Beauty - Selected Pieces from KV Narayanaswamy's Concerts

Skill, Mastery, and Beauty. These are three words that I feel aptly describe the music of Sri KV Narayanaswamy. So, from a career of superlative performances, I thought it might be fitting to pick a set of well-recorded renditions that truly show this skill, mastery, and beauty. This career of superlative performances was bookended by his 1961 release of Hari Hara Putram and then his 2002 concert at Asthika Samajam with its sublime Intha Sowkhya Mani Ne. From beginning to end, KVN was engaged in this singular pursuit of the perfected kriti. The time between his 1967 Music Academy concert and 1979 LP reflected his extraordinary success in this dimension. There are also the numerous Music Academy concerts and other recitals with amazing Alaapanas, Neravals, Swara Prastaras, and Viruthams that now are resurfacing. One example being the Virutham from his 1974 concert in Alameda, California. The hall is so silent and the audience so quiet that his sound simply envelops the listener. It's really something to think about. The thousands of times that he would have listeners entranced in his music. Always leaving the audience at peace. The songs in this collection have been specifically picked to fit into the previously mentioned words. The Shyama Alaapana is one example of Skill with its wowing ascents and descents. The 4 Raga RTP perfectly represents mastery. Sri KVN's true mastery over each and every ragam. Lastly, Krishna Nee Begane, Vande Mukundam(Virutham), and Hari Hara Ninnanu show us why KVN was able to evoke the emotional side of listeners. I really hope you enjoy this collection of renditions!
