We take things back to the basics by giving you lighting tips that enhance the quality of your music videos and is a stepping stone to taking your production quality to the next level. The first lighting technique we cover using one light is a simple key light on a 45 degree angle from the artist creating rembrandt light (small triangle under the shadowed side of the face's eye area). Our second cinematic lighting tip is a simple high key. A high key is used when we want to brighten up the entire face and body of the artist. Our third lighting technique is placing our key light back at a 45 degree angle and placing the key light as high up on the light stand or cstand as it can go and point the key light directly down on the artist. This creates a moody spotlight on your subject. Our fourth lighting technique using one light is placing the key light underneath the artist and shining the light directly up at the artist. This is a lighting technique seen in horror films or scenes that draw a 'scary' factor to them. Last but not least, we have our fifth lighting technique where we simply place our light directly behind the artist at 50% brightness which casts a sihlouette outline on the artist that looks very cinematic!
