TARP AND BIVVY WILD CAMP IN STRONG WINDS ON DEACON HILL

I met up with my mate Richard for another mid week microadventure, a tarp and bivvy bag wild camp at one of my favourite spots on the Ickneild Way, Deacon Hill. As hills go, it's not the highest by any means, but due to the surrounding area (Hertfordshire/ Bedfordshire border) being so flat, you can see for miles! I've camped up there twice before. It was really windy up there this time and I decided to take my OEX Bush Pro tarp and bivvy bag to see what it can handle weather wise. We each had to find a dip or fox hole on the summit to pitch in so we could stay out of the worst of the wind. I set the tarp up in a low cave configuration before sunset. It was quite cloudy so we got neither a sunset or sunrise and we had to be up and down early due to Richard starting work at 7.30 am.
