Rising temperature is causing serious concerns in farmers about the selection of crops and vegetables during hot months of June and July of this year. In this video, I have conveyed some alternate options that can be chosen according to the local conditions of an area. Usually, if weather and climate conditions support, vegetables have the potential of achieving a big profit as vegetables production from tunnels are about to end during these months. Growing of vegetables through tunnel technology is only feasible under the changing scenario of changing climatic conditions. However, summer vegetables cultivation during the months of May and June after Wheat crop is also sometimes profitable. Which of the vegetables are more profitable in case of June sowing. We have highlighted that Bitter gourd is not feasible due to severe attack of virus. Bottle gourd and Sponge gourd may sometimes be profitable. Okra or Lady finger may prove to be the most profitable vegetable crop provided that its selected varieties like Super Green (National Seeds Gujranwala), Green Beauty (Choudhry Sons), Wonder Green (Siddique Sons Faisalabad), Salooni F-1 (Haji Sons), 333 (Hope Seeds) and OH-597 (Syngenta) may prove to be the most profitable crop. Wheat crop sown during November 2023 is commonly harvested during mid of April to mid of May. Conventional options of rice and cotton after wheat crop are commonly considered as less viable due to unfavorable weather in rice and insects’ problem in cotton crops. We have suggested to transplant coarse rice hybrid variety LP2, immediately after harvesting of wheat i.e.; during early May. LP2 is 90-100 days early maturing variety and may vacate land for next crop of autumn maize which may be planted after mid of August. Another alternate option of planting of green manure crop of Mungbam after wheat crop in May has been suggested. Green manures may be rotavated during the end of June. Early maturing Basmati rice newly introduced varieties like 1601 and 1692 may be transplanted after mid of July. In place of rice, next wheat crop may easily be planted in November. Production technologies of different crop are evolving on a fast pace. We should follow the advancements inducted the field of agriculture.
