Will your anchor hold?

Will your anchor hold in the storms of life? Words by Priscilla Jane Owens (1829-99) Music by William J Kirkpatrick (1838-1921) Arranged and orchestrated by Colin Peckham (with a nod to Friedrich Gulda!) This arrangement/orchestration is available for purchase here: http://www.hymnorchestrations.com/ Turn on CC for lyrics. Symphonic Praise 2019 Cape Town City Hall on 15 Sept 2019 Rouchelle Liedemann (alto) Peter Martens (cello) Cape Town Massed Choir (Cape Town Gospel Choir, Tygerberg City Choir, Joyful Harmonies) Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra Directed by Colin Peckham (Apologies for the poor sound balance in this clip. We lost the choir and cello a few times. Lesson learned for mic placement next time) Will your anchor hold in the storms of life, When the clouds unfold their wings of strife? When the strong tides lift, and the cables strain, Will your anchor shift, or firm remain? We have an anchor that keeps the soul Steadfast and sure while the billows roll! Fastened to the Rock which cannot move, Grounded firm and deep in the Saviour’s love. It is safely moored, ‘twill the storm withstand, For ‘tis well secured by the Saviour’s hand; And the cables passed from His heart to mine Can defy the blast, through strength divine. It will surely hold in the straits of fear, When the breakers have told that the reef is near; Though the tempest rage and the wild winds blow, Not an angry wave shall our barque o’erflow. It will surely hold in the floods of death, When the waters cold chill our latest breath; On the rising tide it can never fail, While our hopes abide within the veil. When our eyes behold through the gathering night The city of gold, our harbour bright, We shall anchor fast by the heavenly shore, With the storms all past forevermore.
