Downeast Maine Lakes Loop (August 2015)
Junior, Pocumcus, and Sysladobsis Lakes in the heart of eastern Maine's lake country offer one of the best extended quiet water loop trips in the state, especially when one detours for a few days into Scraggly Lake which we did not do this time. These lakes flow into the St. Croix River, which forms the southeastern border between Maine and New Brunswick. We started and ended this trip at the public boat launch on Bottle Lake. also, there were only 2 portages on this trip: one short carry around the dam between Pocumcus and Sysladobsis Lakes, and a 3/4 mile portage between Sysladobsis and Bottle Lakes at the end of the trip.
