This is from the "last class" I taught in LA before moving back to New York. I say " " because you know, it's never the end until it's the end. I'll be back west soon......... Deeply missing LA as these New York days become dark and cold. Moving back and forth over these years hasn’t been easy. I feel like I’m in a constant state of starting over. Of running. Of searching. (Of finding.) LA was tough on my soul and it taught me so much. Isn’t that always how it goes? . This song in particular holds a special place in my heart. When I heard it, it was the moment I decided to leave New York. Glittery packages were introduced to me, real friends quickly became fake, idols soon felt like enemies. Heartbreak, false hope, injury, betrayal. It tore me down. I found myself in a dark hole. Self medication. Deep depression. Loneliness. Yet, it all led me to myself...and to people like the one holding this camera. . I miss my friends every single day. My company. My students. The energy in classes like this one. The sun. The mountains. The water. The creators. I was truly fortunate to experience some of the magic this city had to offer and each moment was totally worth it. LA brought my feet down to earth. And I’m grateful for it every. single. day.
