Vegetables can be a great addition to your dog’s diet if you stick to those that are safe and hand out an appropriate amount. It is advised to give veggies in a small amount and in small pieces according to your dog size. Also, wash the veggies before feeding. Let’s begin then First is Carrots. Raw and cooked carrots are healthy options for dogs and make a nutritious add-in to meals. Carrots are loaded with phytonutrients and Vitamins A, K & C which promote eyes, heart, and lungs health. Carrots are also known to improve their blood levels. Plus, crunching on carrots can be good for their teeth. While carrots are generally safe, it is important to cut the carrot sticks into bite-size chunks before feeding to them. As a result, you will prevent choking, especially in small dogs. Second is Sweet potato. Sweet potatoes are great for their digestion because they are high in dietary fibers. Also, they are high in antioxidants, iron, vitamins A, C & B which prevents night blindness. They are proved to keep their coat shiny, good skin quality and a strong immune system. Steamed or boiled sweet potatoes hold their nutritional value than roasted. It is advised to start slow with a small amount depending on the dog’s size. Third is Pumpkin. The fiber, potassium, and vitamin C content in pumpkin all support heart health. Raw and cooked fresh pumpkin has many benefits for them like intestinal health, especially for dogs suffering from digestion problem. The abundant fiber helps to absorb water and alleviate diarrhea. It is advised to give either raw which should be peeled, pureed or cut into small manageable pieces after boiling. Fourth is Cucumber. Cucumbers are the good and high source of water content and low in calorie. Give your dog cucumber as a crunchy snack or treat after tiring activities as it will help to hydrate their body in summers. As it is low in calorie, it helps to reduce body weight also. Feeding a whole cucumber is not advisable. Only give peeled cucumber into small slices or pieces according to your dog size. Fifth is Broccoli. Broccoli florets will make a great snack for your dog and especially for puppies. Broccoli is high in Fiber and Vitamin C and low in fat. It is safe for them to eat raw or cooked, as long as no seasonings are added. Giving big pieces is hazardous to them and small pieces would prevent choking. Also, you can measure how much they have consumed. Asparagus Brussels sprouts Beets Cabbages Cauliflower Celery Green beans Kale Lettuce Peas Spinach Zucchini, are the safe veggies for dogs but only if you feed them in appropriate amount and sizes.
