Minha admiração pela sua obra tornou-se maior quando percebi a conexão desta com o mundo do blues, assistindo ao vivo o bluesman Vance Kelly, em 2010, no Chicago Blues Festival, interpretando Purple Rain com uma super banda. Naquele dia vi o quanto as mais diversas sonoridades musicais se conectam com o blues. Neste vídeo, homeganeio Prince e Vance Kelly. Prince por compor Purple Rain, e Vance Kelly por me proporcionar a aportunidade da experiência de assistir a esse tema sendo tocado ao vivo.
