Simple Past Tense Series - August 2024 Batch: Lecture 4: Exploring the Third Use of Simple Past Tense Is lecture mein humne Simple Past Tense ke 4 mein se 3rd use ko achhe se samjha hain (charo uses ka introduction lene ke liye pehle lecture dekhein). Humne sikha kaise hum apne past ki aadatein (habits) ya jo actions hum bar-bar (repeatedly) karte the, ko English mein translate karein. For example, "Main pehle patang udata tha" ko English mein "I used to fly kite before" kehte hain, ya phir "Mere papa pehle gadi chalate the" ko English mein "My papa used to drive car before" mein kaise translate karein, aur aisa karne ka rule sikha. Aage humnein samjha ki zyada/bahut ke liye kab "very" vs "a lot" ka use karein, aur ye bhi samjha ki "a lot" vs "a lot of" kab use hota hain. Aage samjha kaise hum ise negative, yaani hum kuch nahi karte the past mein, for example, "Woh pehle padta nahi tha" ko English "He did not use to study before." ko kaise translate karein; uska kya rule hain. For example, "Woh pehle padta nahi tha" ko English mein "He did not use to study before." Fir humne samjha ki kaise hum kisi se uske past habitual actions ke baare mein questions karein. In other words, woh pehle jo karta tha uske baare mein sawal karein. For example, "Kya tum pichle saal mere school mein padte the?" ko English mein "Did you use to study at my school last year?" aur lastly humne in sawalon mein WH words (What, where, why, when, how) ka use karna sikha. For example, "Tum pehle kahan kaam karte the?" ko English mein "Where did you use to work before?" kehte hain.
